Chion-in Temple. The nightingale floor squeaks while a group of monks circulate through the second level and chant and strike, some wind, a woman in high heels walks by, some birds. Chion-in is a Buddhist temple originally built in 1234, and also is home to the largest temple bell in Japan, which was cast in 1633; the bell unfortunately wasn't sounded while I was in Kyoto.
